Eligibility Verification

Good to Grant helps you verify a charity's status with the IRS and a school's or a school district's standing with the NCES. All data comes directly from the IRS and NCES official government sources.

Why is this important?

If a grantee isn't eligible you could end up liable for taxes on the grant. This is especially important to verify because of the upcoming IRS tax-exempt status revocation for tens of thousands of charities as a result of not filing returns for three consecutive years.

Search

Advanced Search

Enter a list of all of your grantee EINs or school IDs into the advanced search box and get them all back in one list. Use the advanced search to get your results even faster or to find all of the nonprofits in a certain zip code or city.

Why is this important?

Instead of entering your grantees one by one to verify their status, you can get a list of all of them at once by putting in their EINs or School IDs. Use the export CSV button to get the data on your desktop. Faster searches save you time and effort.

Gtg

Good to Grant Assessment

See in one glance a if a grantee is Good to Grant. We use the Council on Foundation's criteria to give you a preliminary assessment before you continue your due diligence.

Why is this important?

Shorten your granting process up front by getting a quick view of whether a grantee is eligible. If they don't appear to be, based on the IRS or NCES data on hand, this will give them extra time to get their paperwork in order if you still want to grant to them.

Watch

Your Watchlist

If you create a free account with Grantr, you can save your grantees to your very own Watchlist. This give you easy access to your organizations right from the homepage.

Why is this important?

Instead of having to search for your grantees all over again in every grant cycle, just check you list to see their status and print a new verification PDF.

Notification

Notifications

If any data recorded with the IRS or NCES changes for an organization on your Watchlist, you will get an email notification with the change. You can also view your notifications on the Grantr website.

Why is this important?

This is especially important if you have donor advised funds that are paying out on a regular basis. If the status of a grantee changes mid-year and you only check once a year, you could end up with a tax liability or expenditure responsibility.

Pdf

Date Stamped PDFs

Download a date stamped PDF with all of the IRS or NCES information to put in your grantee file for due diligence audit purposes.

Why is this important?

In the event of an audit, you will be able to demonstrate your due diligence process in the event that a grantee's status changes after you have made your grant. The IRS recognizes third parties such as Grantr as a resource to be relied upon for this data.
