Grantr APIs for Developers

The Grantr APIs were created to give developers an alternative to having to manage the 1.7 million organizations and schools. To that end, Grantr provides two APIs:

1. Grantr Public API : Using OAuth each user to share their Grantr profile data with the developer's application.This means that your clients will each have an account with Grantr and will authorize your application to work with the user's organization data and watchlists on a record by record basis.
2. Grantr Commercial API : Using Digest Access Authentication your application will be able to query the database directly using MD5 encrypted HTTP.

The Grantr Public API is free, because the customer is the audience that Grantr was created to serve, the grant maker, who is simply connecting their data to another application. This is good for the grant makers and good for Grantr adoption. This constitutes non-commercial use.

The Grantr Commercial API has a cost associated with it, because the customer is not the grant maker, rather it is the company that will make use of the data. Even if that company is selling to grant makers, it still constitutes commercial use, because Grantr's end user is the company.
